welcome to K. Tarver elementary

Principal's Message

Dear Families, As the calendar turns and the Texas landscape begins to bloom, I am delighted to welcome you to the beautiful spring season here at our school. There is a palpable energy in the hallways this time of year—perhaps it’s the warmer weather, or maybe it’s the incredible growth we are seeing in our students as we head into the final stretch of the school year. We are officially in the "home stretch," and it is inspiring to look back at how far our students have come since August. While we are all looking forward to summer adventures, we still have several weeks of high-quality learning and meaningful milestones ahead of us. Looking Ahead: STAAR Testing As we enter this latter part of the year, we are also preparing for the upcoming STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) testing. We view this as an opportunity for our students to show off all the hard work they’ve put in and the knowledge they’ve gained. To help our students feel confident and prepared, please keep these friendly reminders in mind: Rest is Best: Please ensure your child gets plenty of sleep the night before testing. A well-rested brain is a sharp brain! Fuel for Thought: A nutritious breakfast goes a long way. Whether at home or in our cafeteria, a healthy start provides the energy needed for focus. Punctuality Matters: Arriving on time helps students settle in calmly without feeling rushed before the booklets open. Keep it Positive: The best thing you can do is offer words of encouragement. A simple "I’m proud of how hard you’ve worked" can make a world of difference. Our teachers have done a phenomenal job preparing your children, and we want this experience to be as stress-free as possible. Our goal is simply for every student to do their personal best. Thank you for your continued partnership and for sharing your wonderful children with us every day. Let’s make this spring a season of growth, success, and celebration! Warmly, Yvonne Valdez Principal, K. Tarver Elementary
